The Texas Education Agency has notified the Mexia Independent School District that it has completed its review of the district’s Corrective Action Plan to address compliance issues related to a visit the district received in 2008. The agency had conducted a monitoring visit during the week of November 3, 2008 in which a number of compliance issues were identified through the Residential Facility (RF) Monitoring system. The majority of the issues were related to the education of residents of the Mexia State Supported Living Center.
In a letter received by the district on July 19, 2010, TEA notified the district that the district had met all compliance issues through the implementation of its Corrective Action Plan. The agency encouraged the district to continue monitoring its program addressing the education of the residents of the state supported living center, but that they are not requiring any additional action by the local district.

June 22, 2010
On June 21, 2010 the Mexia ISD Board of Trustees adopted a revised 2010-2011 school calendar. This calendar is slightly different from the previously adopted calendar. There are four areas that are different. The first is the addition of flex days to the calendar. Flex days will be instructional days for students that have not met certain criteria such as meeting state standards on all parts of the state assessments (TAKS) and meeting local promotion/credit requirements. Students that have met the criteria will not be required to attend school on flex days. The second area that will be different is the date of graduation. Graduation will be on May 20, 2011 at Blackcat Field. The third is that the district will not hold classes on Memorial Day, May 30, 2011 provided we do not miss any instructional days due to bad weather. The fourth and final change is that June 4, 2011 will be a teacher workday.
