CONGRATULATIONS TO OUR FINANCIAL LITERACY PROMOTION TEAM FOR WINNING FIRST PLACE AT THE INTERNATIONAL DECA CONFERENCE IN ANAHEIM CALIFORNIA.  THEY BEAT OVER TWO HUNDRED TEAMS AT THE INTERNATIONAL LEVEL TO BRING HOME THIS HONOR!

MEXIA ISD HIGH NEED TEACHER STIPENDS
2013-2014 School Year

In an effort to recruit and retain highly qualified and appropriately certified teachers, Mexia ISD pays a $4,000 stipend for teaching fields identified as high need teaching areas: Secondary Math (grades 6-12), Secondary Science (grades 6-12), Secondary Foreign Language (grades 6-12) and Elementary Bilingual (PK-5).

To receive this yearly stipend, a teacher must meet the following criteria:

1) Be assigned to teach in one of the identified high need areas;

2) Hold appropriate state certification to teach in the high need area as follows:
High school science teachers must hold a science certification for grades 6-12 or 8-12, such as Biology, Earth Science, Chemistry, Math/Physical Science, Physics/Math  or Science Composite. Junior high science teachers must hold a 4–8 Science, 4-8 Math/Science, or grades 6-12 or 8-12 Science certification.

High school math teachers must hold a math certification for grades 6-12 or 8-12, Math/Physical Science grades 8-12, or Physics/Math grades 8-12.. Junior high math teachers must hold 4-8 Math, 4-8 Math/Science, or grades 6-12 or 8-12 Math certification.

High school foreign language teachers must hold a secondary foreign language certification for grades 6-12.

Elementary bilingual teachers must hold a Bilingual Generalist-Spanish grades EC-4, Bilingual grades PK-8, or Bilingual-Spanish grades 1-12.

3) To receive the full stipend, a teacher must teach at least five (5) sections of the subject. If a teacher teaches less than five sections, then he or she will receive a prorated amount of $800 per section.

Stipends will be paid in two installments, one in December and the other in April.
