Full Steam Ahead
Empowered and Driven Toward Excellence
August 18, 2015
I certainly hope you had a wonderful summer filled with priceless memories! Family and friends are a vital part of our lives and we must always spend time with them throughout our busy schedules. Family Lives Matter!
Here are Mexia ISD, we are moving Full Steam Ahead and I want you to know that we are ready! In fact, we are Empowered and Driven Toward Excellence! Successful practices will be continued and new ones will be added to our efforts in creating a premier district. Yes, our vision is: To create a premier district! We will do that by working on our mission: Educating all students in an enriched environment where high expectations result in excellence!
As you start this new year, I want to encourage you to get to know those who are spending countless hours educating your child(ren) and preparing them for life! Indeed they are teaching academics but each and every day is filled with teachable moments about life-skills!† To assist along this journey, please feel free to contact each teacher for a student-led conference each six weeks. If you cannot make it to a face-to-face conference, please ask for a powerpoint version so your child can explain his/her grades at home. You may also ask for a face time version of the student-led conference through Hangouts. If you donít have that on your phone, you might want to get that app. Our teachers will have training over this during the first 3 months of school so around December you should be able to get that service. Some teachers may already know how to do that with you and itís perfectly ok if they start early using that type of social media to communicate with you.
Please look for more positive and helpful notices coming your way from the administration! †If you need to contact us, please call Samantha Smith, Superintendentís Secretary at 254-562-4000.
Looking forward to a great year!
